Re:Lowering Golf MK3 Help - 2006/05/24 04:30
Hi Chris, most people run with a 60/40 cup kit or coil overs to lower and "level" the Mk3. The cup kits usually have adjustable rear spring perches to fine tune the overall ride height to make the front and rear gap look even. So you could do it with either system. Mk3's really don't sit lower in the back, it's just that the rear wheel arch is an oval and the front more round. The car is really sitting closer to flat when you have more front gap. Yes, it does handle better with more front gap, Most people just prefer the looks much beter with an even gap, so that is what you will usually see on dropped VW's. How you set up your suspension is really up to you, how you drive and the road conditions that you need to deal with. Goingfast offers FK and Weitec cup kits as well as Weitec coil over systems. Any of those can get you the look you want. I would recommend if possible that you go for a ride in a few lowered MK3's in your area to see how you like the feel of the systems that are out there. FWIW, I really like the Weitec 60/40 cup kit.
